
Three dams in Luzon had some of their gates open on Saturday morning amid heavy rains from Typhoon Kiko and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
Ipo Dam in Bulacan had one gate open at 0.15 meters for spilling operation on Saturday morning, PAGASA said in an advisory.
The dam’s reservoir water level (RWL) was 100.86 meters at 7 a.m., which is very close to the normal high water level (NHWL) of 101 meters.
PAGASA advised residents living in low-lying areas and near the river bank of Angat River in Norzagaray, Angat, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, Pulilan, Plaridel, Calumpit and Hagonoy to take the necessary precautions regarding possible flooding.

Ambuklao Dam in Benguet had two gates open at 1 meter at 6 a.m. on Saturday, same as on Friday, data from PAGASA showed.
Its RWL was at 750.56 meters as of that time, near the 752-meter NHWL.
Binga Dam, also in Benguet, had three gates still open at 1.50 meters on Saturday morning, same as on Friday, according to PAGASA.
The dam had RWL of 574.45 meters as of 6 a.m., closely approaching the 575-meter NHWL.
PAGASA said Typhoon Kiko is enhancing the Southwest Monsoon.
Monsoon rains are to be expected in the next 24 hours over Metro Manila, parts of Ilocos Region, parts of Cordillera Administrative Region, and the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon.
Kiko is forecast to maintain its strength while traversing the Babuyan-Batanes area in the next 12 hours but is forecast to begin weakening later on Saturday or Sunday. —KG, GMA News
