The Bureau of Immigration has rotated more than 300 officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to curb corruption among personnel.
According to BI Acting Port Operations chief Carlos Capulong, the rotation scheme of a total of 341 officers was approved on Sunday.
“This will be the last rotation of our NAIA personnel this year as the next reshuffle will be implemented during the first quarter of 2022,” Capulong said in a statement.
Capulong said 99 newly-hired immigration inspectors who are still undergoing on-the-job training are not included in the rotation scheme.
The BI also rotated the terminal assignments of 77 Immigration supervisors.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente previously said that the BI is fast-tracking the recruitment of almost 200 new officers who will be deployed next year.
He also expressed hope that international travel will normalize by next year. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
