Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Friday said some governors were allegedly withholding the distribution of COVID-19 vaccine supply to municipalities due to politics.
Galvez said some vaccine doses are just being stored in regional warehouses.
“Nakikita natin ‘yung problema natin sa distribution sa local government units, kasi nakita natin may mga governor, hindi nila dini-distribute doon sa mga municipalities . Minsan nagiging political,” he said in an ANC interview.
(We are seeing the problem in the distribution in the local government units as some governors are not distributing the vaccines to municipalities. Sometimes it is becoming political.)
Due to this, Galvez said the national government started to distribute the vaccine by municipalities.
As of Wednesday, the NTF said 22.6 million Filipinos or 29.37% of the target population are already fully vaccinated.
The total vaccine deliveries to the Philippines since February have reached 81.4 million doses as of Thursday, the NTF added.—AOL, GMA News
