People visited several public places in Metro Manila on Sunday as the capital region’s COVID-19 alert was downgraded to Level 3.
According to Dano Tingcungco’s report on 24 Oras, several people went to the Quirino Grandstand and the Cultural Center of the Philippines to exercise.
Social distancing was also not observed at the St. Peter’s Church along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, children and the elderly were also present at the dolomite beach in Manila Bay.
“Enjoy naman ‘yong mga kids po dahil Sunday po family day po, naigala po namin mga bata,” one of the visitors said.
(The kids enjoyed it as it was a Sunday, family day. We were able to bring the kids outdoors with us.)
Philippine Medical Association president Dr. Maricar Limpin was concerned about the overcrowding in some public places.
“Every time nagre-relax tayo ng ating mga measures to contain the pandemic, ito ay nagdudulot ng muling pag-akyat ng COVID-19 cases,” she said.
(Every time we relax the health measures to contain the pandemic, this causes another rise in COVID-19 cases.)
“Hindi ho namin sinasabi na ibalik sa Alert Level 4 ‘no. Actually, kailangan matuto tayo kung ano ang gagawin natin kapag bumababa ang alert levels natin. Kailangan ‘yong minimum health protocols natin, sumusunod po tayo,” she added.
(We’re not saying we should go back to an Alert Level 4. We do need to learn how to behave when our alert levels are lowered. We have to follow our minimum health protocols.)
