Thieves in Nueva Ecija’s Gapan City broke into an automated teller machine at a mall and made off with over P5 million in cash.

According to Jamie Santos’ Saturday report on 24 Oras Weekend, the thieves had cleared a spot near the mall’s wall, and this was where they made a hole to get to the ATM.

“May construction na ginagawa doon, at may bantay doon,” said Police Provincial Director Colonel Rhoderick Campo. “May anggulo po tayong tinitingnan na inside job.”

Police have gathered evidence and have five persons of interest in the crime.

A special investigation task force was also formed to look into the theft.

GMA was still seeking comment from the mall’s management as of posting time. — DVM, GMA News
