Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is withdrawing his certificate of candidacy (COC) for president in the May 2022 elections.
Dela Rosa’s staff said that the senator is now on his way to the Commission on Elections’ main office in Manila to formalize the withdrawal, according to a tweet by GMA News reporter Victoria Tulad.

Dela Rosa had earlier said he was ready to be substituted and give way to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte if the latter decides to run for president in the upcoming elections.
He even visited the mayor at her office in Davao late last month to offer the PDP-Laban standard bearer slot.
Mayor Sara, however, filed her COC on Saturday for vice president under Lakas-CMD party as substitute for Lyle Uy, who withdrew his candidacy for the second highest position in the government. — VBL, GMA News
