A joint maritime patrol by the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Coast Guard was recently conducted from the Davao Gulf to the Sarangani Strait to prevent illegal drugs and other contraband from entering the region.
On board BRP Cape San Agustin, elements of the BOC and PCG on November 3 surveyed the areas of responsibility of the BOC Davao.
“The maritime patrol yielded negative as no motorized marine vessel was sighted nor any suspicious activities was observed in the area and its surrounding islands, the Sarangani Island and Balut Island,” the BOC said in a press release on Thursday.
The statement said the BOC Davao, headed by district collector Erastus Sandino Austria, would continue to work closely with other partner enforcement agencies to carry out similar operations. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA News
