One Hospital Command says majority of 200 callers this week from working age group

The One Hospital Command Center received an average of 150 to 200 calls or requests this week, most of which were related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a medical officer said Friday.

At the Laging Handa briefing, Dr. Marylaine Padlan said most of these were COVID-19 related requests regarding hospital and isolation facility admissions.

Since the implementation of the alert level system, Padlan said most of the calls came from the working age group.

“Around 20 to 29 and 30 to 39 years old. Sila po yung karamihan na nagiging COVID positive and nagre-request ng tulong sa atin. ‘Yun po ‘yung usually nag re-request ng mga isolation facility o hospital assessment,” she said.

Meanwhile, Padlan said the center is experiencing an easier time coordinating on the transportation of patients.

“Nagkaroon na rin po ng less demand no dahil nga bumababa na rin ‘yung mga kaso natin. Less demand, less travel na rin ‘yung mga ambulance natin so nagiging mas available po sila sa ating mga patient right now that are needing transport,” she said.

However, Padlan said there are instances when they face difficulties, such as transporting patients with specialized needs.

“Ginagawan namin ng paraan para makapag provide kami ng transportation, medical transportation o ambulance, that are well equipped po,” she said.

The Philippines has logged a total of 2,823,210 COVID-19 cases, of which 23,200 are currently active and 46,698 have succumbed to the illness.—LDF, GMA News
