Alleged Daulah Islamiyah bomb maker surrendered in North Cotabato–military

An alleged bomb maker of terror group Daulah Islamiyah surrendered to authorities in Carmen, North Cotabato on Sunday, the military said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the military said Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division commander Major General Juvymax Uy said the ‘bomb expert’ is one of the high value targets of security forces.

However, Uy refused to disclose the identity of the suspected Daulah Islamiyah bomb maker.

The former Daulah Islamiyah member, with his 7.62mm M14 rifle, turned himself over to 90th Infantry Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Rommel Mundala.

According to the military, he was also presented to 602nd Infantry Brigade commander Colonel Jovencio Gonzales at their headquarters in Camp Lucero, which was witnessed by the vice mayor of Carmen.

“This surrender was a joint effort of the military and police forces in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Carmen, North Cotabato,” Gonzales said.

The ex-terror group member will be enrolled in DIWATA HAVEN (Dapat Iwaksi at Wakasan ang Terorismo at Armadong Pakikibaka – Hadlangan ang Violent Extremism) Program of North Cotabato, Uy said.
