Activists Kara Taggaoa and Larry Valbuena have been released from police detention after they posted bail on Tuesday, Glen Juego of Super Radyo dzBB has reported.
In a Facebook post, Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) welcomed the release of the labor union officers who were apprehended Monday over their alleged role in the mauling of a police officer at a rally in Quezon City in July 2020.
Taggaoa and Valbuena were released from the Quezon City Police District Centralized Custodial Facility at 6:26 p.m. after putting up a bail of P36,000.
The KMU International League of Peoples’ Struggle – Philippines (ILPS Philippines) earlier condemned the what it called the “indiscriminate arrests.”
They also called on the international community to strengthen their its for the activists and organized a donation drive for their bail money. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA News
