Locals recover corpse of missing 12-year-old along QC creek

Locals recovered the corpse of a 12-year-old boy who went missing while swimming in a Quezon City creek at the height of Friday’s heavy downpour, according to a report by dzBB’s Luisito Santos.

Based on the report, the body of Edgardo Abraham Reyes was found by residents on Sunday at around 11 a.m. along a creek on G. Araneta Avenue in Barangay Santo Domingo, Quezon City.

Reyes had been missing since 5 p.m. on Friday. He swam in the creek with his two other friends, but only one of them was able to go home, according to Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) halted the search for the boy on Friday night after recovering the body of Lemuel Evangelista.

However, residents continued to look for Reyes.

The body was found around 800 meters far from where he was last seen alive, according to the report.

The CDRRMO opened a part of the avenue to be able to retrieve the body. They had to use a ladder as the creek was about 8 to 10 feet deep.

Authorities from the Quezon City Police District will continue its investigation into Reyes’ cause of death. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
