At least four passengers sustained minor injuries after a defective train of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) activated its “automatic brake” feature.
At 9:08 a.m. on Wednesday, the safety feature of the train, called the automatic train protection (ATP) system, activated to stop a defective index approaching Boni Station, the MRT-3 said.
The MRT-3 added that the four injured passengers received first aid treatment from emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Security personnel were also instructed to provide all assistance to the passengers.
The defective train resumed movement by 9:16 a.m. upon intervention by on-board technicians and was removed for further troubleshooting by a maintenance provider, according to the MRT-3.
