Cusi-faction files estafa, qualified theft raps vs former PDP-Laban treasurer

A former PDP-Laban national treasurer was slapped with estafa and qualified theft complaints, the ruling party’s Alfonso Cusi faction disclosed Friday.

Information released by Cusi’s camp stated that Evan Rebadulla, who was appointed by Senator Aquilino “Kiko” Pimentel III, allegedly refused to report and account for the party funds he managed during his term as treasurer.

It was PDP-Laban National Committee Officer Reymar Mansilungan who filed the complaint before the Provincial Prosecution Office in Daet, Camarines Norte on September 16.

He accused Rebadulla of repeatedly refusing to account for the party funds, including some P100 million in membership fees from some 100,000 members.

“Mr. Rebadulla has to account for all the collections of the party since he assumed office but since he refuses to do so, we are compelled to file this case against him,” Mansilungan said in a press release.

It was stated in the affidavit-complaint that the PDP Laban had sought Rebadulla’s cooperation since it issued its National Council (NC) Resolution No. 7 on May 31, which requested for the former national treasurer to account for the party funds on July 17 during the national assembly.

However, Rebadulla allegedly did not present any of the fund reports to the national assembly, the affidavit-complaint added.

It also indicated that Rebadulla was the national treasurer when the membership fees were increased in 2017 to P1,000 per member by Pimentel.

“They claim that as of early 2021, there are 100,000 or so grassroots party members supporting the quest of Sen. (Manny) Pacquiao, for the presidency of the land. If this figure is true, where did the membership funds paid for by these members go?” Mansilungan asked.

Last August 6, the PDP-Laban served a formal demand on Rebadulla to account for all the funds held by him during his incumbency.

The complaint noted that “since as of this filing, Rebadulla has willfully, continuously refused to render an accounting of the party funds held by him as national treasurer.”

Sought for comment on the development, Senator Koko Pimentel told GMA News, “Don’t waste your time on jokes. That person (Rebadulla) will get his day in court in due time.”  — DVM, GMA News
