PBSP elects Manolito Tayag as Chair, Margot Torres as Vice Chair, and Rossana Fajardo as Treasurer

Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) announces the election of Manolito T. Tayag as chairperson, Margot B. Torres as vice chairperson, Rossana A. Fajardo as treasurer, and Carolina A. Racelis as corporate secretary. Manuel V Pangilinan, the organization’s longest-serving chairperson, will now be its first-ever chair emeritus while continuing his duties as a trustee.

Honoring a legacy of leadership and service

PBSP expresses its profound gratitude to Manuel for his tenure as chairperson starting in 2000. During this period, PBSP expanded its programs, strengthened its partnerships, and reinforced the role of the private sector in nation-building. As PBSP’s longest-serving chairperson, his transition to chair emeritus is a fitting testament to his decades of guidance and enduring influence on the organization’s direction and impact.

Manolito Tayag: leading the next era

Manolito assumes the chairmanship following years of active involvement in the organization’s initiatives and governance as a trustee (2014-present), audit committee member (2014-2015) and chair (2016-2021), and PBSP vice chairperson (2022-2025). He brings decades of experience in technology, consulting, and digital transformation, having led Accenture Philippines as Country Managing Director until his retirement in 2022. An advocate for responsible business leadership and social development, Manolito serves as the vice chairperson of Philippine Business for Education, a trustee of the Makati Business Club (MBC) and ASA Philippines Foundation, and an independent director of PHINMA Education Holdings Inc., Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc., and FWD Insurance Philippines

Margot Torres: A catalyst for growth and impact

Margot takes on the role of vice chairperson after her election to the board of trustees in 2025. Currently the Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines, she is a multi-awarded marketer and thought leader, recognized with distinctions such as the lifetime Agora Award for Marketing Management and the first-ever Tambuli Chief Marketing Officer of the Year award. Beyond her corporate roles, Margot has contributed to advancing professional excellence as a previous president of the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) and the Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP). She was also tapped to serve as the private sector communications lead for Task Force T3, working closely with the government to support the national response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Championing stewardship with Rossana Fajardo

Rosanna became a trustee and was elected treasurer last year when she took the helm as Country Managing Partner of Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.), one of PBSP’s founding members. She previously served as SGV Consulting Leader (2015 to 2025) and currently holds the role of EY ASEAN Business Consulting Leader (2020 to present). Rosanna brings more than three decades of experience in auditing, risk management, and governance, paired with a strong dedication to transparency and accountability as a former commissioner of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

Strengthening impact under new leadership

During this new season, PBSP aims to amplify its NextGen initiatives — “off-the-shelf” programs designed to invest in the future of human capital. In 2024, PBSP invested PHP 10 million from its own surplus to launch these initiatives.

This growing portfolio of flagship programs include: “Masustansyang Pagbubuntis, Masiglang Kamusmusan” (MaMa) program, which aims to combat malnutrition, improve maternal care, and support early childhood development during the First 1,000 Days of a child’s life. The Literacy Enrichment Training and Reading Assistance (LETRA) program addresses the country’s literacy crisis through comprehensive teacher training and learner support in grades 1 to 3. PBSP is also assisting companies with their compliance to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Law, championing sustainable practices across industries and utilizing net proceeds from this initiative to fund the first two.

PBSP earns another seal of excellence

As PBSP introduces its new officers, it also marks the milestone of successfully securing renewed accreditation from the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC), affirming the organization’s commitment to the highest standards of integrity, quality, and accountability. As one of PCNC’s founding members, PBSP has been granted accreditation six times since 1999. This latest reaccreditation is a testament to the organization’s good governance and leadership, robust management, and financial sustainability.

PBSP reinforces its mission of uniting businesses for social development and extends its appreciation to its members, partners, and stakeholders for their continued trust and collaboration.
