DOH: ICU beds nationwide now 77% occupied

The intensive care unit beds nationwide and in the National Capital Region (NCR) remain at high risk, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH).

Based on the latest bulletin, around 77% of the total 4,300 ICU beds in the country are occupied while 79% of the 1,500 beds in NCR are in use.

High risk means occupancy rate is more than 70% but less than 85%.

Meanwhile, the country’s ward beds are also at high risk.

Data showed that 73% of the 15,900 ward beds in the Philippines are being utilized while 74% of the 4,400 ward beds in NCR are in use. 

Isolation beds nationwide are also nearing high risk with 68% of the total 20,800 beds in use. Around 64% of the 4,500 isolation beds in NCR are occupied.

According to the DOH,  57% of the total 3,300 mechanical ventilators in the country are being utilized while 62% of the 1,100 mechanical ventilators in NCR are in use.

 

The Philippines has logged a total of 2,324,475 confirmed cases, of which 2,100,039 have recovered and 36,328 have died.—LDF, GMA News
