More than two kilograms of suspected kush or high-grade marijuana worth over P3.7 million has been seized by agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
In a statement released Thursday, customs personnel added that a controlled delivery to the consignee’s address in Subic also led to a claimant’s arrest.
The shipment containing the drug paraphernalia arrived in the country on February 19 from Quebec, Canada, and was initially declared to contain “window curtains, cotton”, according to the BOC.
A physical examination of the cargo, however, discovered it contained five packs of dried leaves and stems weighing 2.336 kilograms, suspected to be kush. It has a street value of P3,737,600.
The samples have been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for a chemical laboratory analysis, which confirmed the presence of marijuana.
The BOC will file a criminal case against the apprehended claimant for violation of RA 9165. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA Integrated News
