Cops nab 3 suspects in police asset”s ambush in Antipolo

Three men were arrested in Antipolo, Rizal over their alleged involvement in the ambush of a police asset.

According to John Consulta’s exclusive report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday,  CCTV footage showed the suspects along a corner road while waiting for their victim, 42-year-old Marcy Rivera.

After sighting him, one of the suspects seemingly sent a message to the other two, who tailed Rivera on a motorcycle before shooting him in an area that was not covered by the security camera.

“May tama siya sa leeg at sa paa. Sa kabutihang palad, daplis lang ito,” said Antipolo City Police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel June Paolo Abrazado.

(He was shot in the neck and foot, but fortunately, he was only grazed.)

The city police the nabbed suspects, aged 25 and 18, after identifying their location. Recovered from them was the motorcycle supposedly used in the crime, helmets, jackets, and a can of spray paint allegedly used to change the color of the getaway vehicle.

The alleged gunmen also told the police where they source their illicit drugs. Arrested in the warehouse was the third suspect who reportedly served as their lookout for the ambush.

Also seized from him were P300,000 worth of shabu.

“Accordingly, dun sa mga suspects natin, ito po raw victim at tinik na sa kanilang lalamunan,” said Abrazado.

(The suspects said our assets were harming their business.)

“Very material ang CCTV sa crime prevention and solution. Pag may nangyaring krimen, yan ang una nating tinitingnan kung saan nagpunta ang suspects natin and crime prevention na rin po. Kasi kung makita ng suspects na may CCTV sa lugar, pwede po itong maging preventive measure,” he added.

(CCTVs are very material in crime prevention and solution. We look at them first when crimes happen so we can trace the location of the suspects. Also, CCTVs can deter crime because suspects tend to not act when they see one.)
