The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday warned the public against a circulating false article about a cure for hypertension.
“The DOH further clarifies that the said post is not in any way or form approved, affiliated, or recommended by the DOH and its attached agencies,” the department said in a statement.
The Health Department urged the public to be vigilant and check legitimate sources and platforms through its official social media accounts and website.
It said non-communicable diseases and comorbidities, such as hypertension, can be prevented through a healthy lifestyle, including proper diet and exercise.
The DOH also recommended having regular checkups and doctors’ consultations to help supplement and prevent illnesses.
Hypertensive diseases are the fifth leading cause of death in the Philippines in 2022, data from the DOH showed.
Meanwhile, Philippine Society of Hypertension (PSH) Vice President Dr. Alejandro Diaz encouraged Filipinos to monitor their blood pressure at home amid the increase in hypertension cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
