OP, DSWD give cash aid to kin of slain Oriental Mindoro broadcaster

At least P55,000 in financial assistance has been given by the Office of the President (OP) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the bereaved family of Oriental Mindoro radio broadcaster Cresenciano “Cris” Bunduquin who was shot dead on Wednesday.

Presidential Task Force on Media Security executive director Paulino Gutierrez said P40,000 in cash aid came from the OP to help with the expenses of Bunduquin’s family, based on a dzBB report of Luisito Santos.

On the other hand, the government is dangling P50,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the triggerman, according to Gutierrez.

Meanwhile, the DSWD has donated P15,000 cash and burial assistance, and is mulling possible educational assistance for the children of the slain broadcaster.

Bunduquin was killed in a shooting incident in front of a sari-sari store in Calapan City early Wednesday morning.

Police said that moments after the suspects fled from the crime scene, Bunduquin’s son gave a chase on the attackers and “accidentally bumped” into the motorcycle of the suspects, causing the motorbike to careen.

One of the suspects died on the spot due to his head injuries, the police added. —LBG, GMA Integrated News
